The forum began at 09.45am on the 25 April 2014 and was hosted by Mike Stalley FCA, Chief Executive; Peter Hewitt FTII, Client Director and Head of European Tax Practice; Ing. Ladislav Hanak, Senior Client Manager of European Tax Practice and Joseph Finbow, Senior Client Manager of Captive Tax Practice of FiscalReps.
Mike Stalley began with an introduction to the company, with a general overview of recent notable changes in the premium tax industry. Then Joseph Finbow followed with his presentation: The Changing Landscape of Spanish IPT. A popular topic at previous events, Joseph ran through the complexities faced by insurers when writing business in Spain and advising insurers how they can remain compliant – and what are the consequences if they don’t!
Ladislav Hanak continued with the session ‘Understanding Eastern European IPT’. A session which has been popular in past events, covering the individual requirement when filing insurance premium tax and parafiscal taxes in Eastern Europe. Following a short break, Mike Stalley continued with a presentation on ‘US Federal Excise Tax’, with examples using Irish based insurance companies. Peter finished the presentations with a VAT update, again with examples of key European cases. The presentations finished with a Question and Answer Session.
The forum allowed FiscalReps to meet with its current and prospective clients based in Ireland and to provide attendees with an overview of key European and international topics.
